Release Day Review: Barking Up the Wrong Tree (Sex and Sweet Tea #3) by Juliette Poe

BARKING UP THE WRONG TREE
The Sex and Sweet Tea Series
by Juliette Poe
Release Day – SEPTEMBER 14th

Things in Whynot, NC have gone to the dogs, and that’s just the way the town’s only veterinarian, Laken Mancinkus, likes it. No matter if she’s up when the rooster crows, or working until the cows come home, Laken never leaves an animal in need. So when a gorgeous Yankee comes begging for help herding some wily goats, Laken is up to the task.

Jake McDaniel is looking for a tax break, and what better way than to take up…farming? This ex-football player turned businessman turned unwitting goat farmer is up to his knees in goat drama. Runaway goats, dehydrated goats, and a baby goat that wants no one other than him, Jake needs more help than he cares to admit. Good thing the sexy veterinarian is right there to coach him on how to be a farmer. The only problem is, Laken’s not looking for anything more than a good time, while Jake is looking for his forever girl.

Will the baby goat, and Laken, be enough to get Jake to stay? Or will he take his tax break and hoof it back to Chicago? One thing is for certain…what happens on the farm doesn’t always stay on the farm.

What I thought about Barking up the Wrong Tree

In this ode to small town life by Juliette Poe, aka Sawyer Bennett, another of the Mancinkus family gets a taste of some sweet love in the form of a hot business man from Chicago and former football player, Jake McDaniel.

Jake has come to Whynot because he's purchased a farm and he meets Laken Mancinkus when he's in desperate need of a veterinarian for his new goats.  Yep, goats.

This story was adorable.  Jake and Laken have everything going for them--great sex, companionship and mutual respect.  But the distance between Chicago and Whynot is also great, and Laken is protecting her heart by trying to keep things casual with Jake.  But there's so much chemistry between them it's not possible.

Barking Up The Wrong Tree is a low conflict romance that celebrates life in a small town and the compromises the people who live there must make to get their happy ending.  I've enjoyed every book in this series, and this is no exception.  It even gives us the dog's point of view on everything, and the image of Jake and Miss Goatikins just had me smiling every single time.

If you are looking for something sweet without explicit sex and all the quirkiness that is small town life, you just might like this series and Barking Up The Wrong Tree.

An ARC was provided for review.
