Review:Three Sacred Words by Christina Lee

Meadow Starr has worked in housekeeping at the Golden Arrow Casino since she was legal. Raising her son, Joaquin, without the support of her parents or the child’s father was not something she had ever envisioned. Neither was pushing a broom, scraping money together to pay the bills, or living in a trailer park on the reservation. Little does she expect her worst nightmare and her best dream to show up in town at the exact same time.

Federal Marshal Alex Flores returns to the reservation where he helped solve a murder investigation last year. He’s never forgotten the mesmerizing woman with the luminous smile and world-weary eyes. Too bad the fugitive on this new case has led him straight to her doorstep. Meadow will never give up Joaquin’s father, not if her wary gaze or her tight set jaw is any indication.

Meadow’s draw to Alex is immediate, but no way she’s going to trade attraction for history, longing for heritage. When the stakes become higher and Alex steps in to protect Meadow and her child from the very man she was willing to defend, he can’t help falling for them both. Who knew something so wrong could feel so right? But as the lines continue to blur, something’s got to give, and Alex isn’t certain he can walk away so easily from love.

What I thought about Three Sacred Words

There are so many things I liked about Three Sacred Words.  Let me start with the cover and the title.  I have to say I love covers and I often buy based on the feeling I get from a book cover.  I absolutely love the cover of Three Sacred Words and the title just fits it so very well.  It really made me want to read this title, so I was thrilled to read and review.

Meadow is a single mom, raising her young son Joaquin on her own.  She doesn't have an easy life, but she does her best to take care of her son by working at the Casino and selling her handmade jewelry. Her ex and son's father, Sparrow, has a dubious history, and he's married to another woman, Gloria. When Meadow sees Alex Flores, a Federal Marshal, at the reservation, she has a pretty good idea he's there to find out about Sparrow. She forces herself to ignore the physical attraction she feels for Alex, because she doesn't see any way that will work out for her.

Tradition keeps Meadow from giving up what she knows about Sparrow. She doesn't want to be the one responsible for putting him in jail, but when thugs come to her trailer asking questions, she's got to look out for her son.

Alex Flores noticed Meadow when he was at the reservation on a prior case, and now that he's back, he can't ignore how he's drawn to her.  The fact he has to question her about Sparrow makes him uneasy, but he does his job and ends up protecting her from the thugs looking for her ex.

The first half of this book is filled with tension over how Meadow might get pulled into danger from her relationship with Sparrow, and the sexual tension between Meadow and Alex is a slow burning flame that just isn't going to be denied.  I loved that about this book -- the relationship between these two takes a bit of time to develop.

I loved Meadow's dedication to her son and the fact she was a single mom doing her best for her family. She was average and familiar and that made it easy to relate to her struggles and her joys.

Alex Flores was a terrific hero in this story as well. He's what you might call a stand-up guy. He's had his own challenges, and he's tired of being alone. As much as he talks himself out of pursuing Meadow, he can't resist her, and it was lovely to see these two fill their loneliness with each other.

Sparrow's criminal activity provides the conflict in this story, and things come to a serious conclusion in the second half of the book.

I really enjoyed this love story between these diverse characters. Meadow and Alex were terrific and they made me want to read the first book in this series because I want more from this world.

Can your favorite hockey players finish their first season together undefeated?

Five months in, NHL forward Ryan Wesley is having a record-breaking rookie season. He's living his dream of playing pro hockey and coming home every night to the man he loves–Jamie Canning, his longtime best friend turned boyfriend. There's just one problem: the most important relationship of his life is one he needs to keep hidden, or else face a media storm that will eclipse his success on the ice.

Jamie loves Wes. He really, truly does. But hiding sucks. It's not the life Jamie envisioned for himself, and the strain of keeping their secret is taking its toll. It doesn't help that his new job isn't going as smoothly as he'd hoped, but he knows he can power through it as long as he has Wes. At least apartment 10B is their retreat, where they can always be themselves.

Or can they? When Wes's noisiest teammate moves in upstairs, the threads of their carefully woven lie begin to unravel. With the outside world determined to take its best shot at them, can Wes and Jamie develop major-league relationship skills on the fly?

Warning: contains sexual situations, a vibrating chair, long-distance sexytimes, and proof that hockey players look hot in any shade of green.

Sitting at the dinner table surrounded by their friends, Nick squeezed Becca’s thigh. She turned to him wearing a huge smile, a champagne glass in her hand. “Are you feeling frisky, Mr. Rixey?” she asked.

Nick leaned in close. “No, I’m fucking horny. I want to mess up your lipstick and tear off your panties and make my fingers and cock smell like you.” He leaned back again, his face carefully neutral.

Her eyes were wide—and full of heat. “Holy shit. How am I supposed to be apart from you the rest of the night after that?”

“Welcome to my world, Sunshine.” He threw back a gulp of whiskey.

“Come here. I want to taste that off your tongue,” she said.

“Jesus,” he gritted out, but it wasn’t like he was turning down a kiss. She leaned in, giving him a great view of her cleavage down the front of her sequined strapless dress, and grasped his face in her hand. Her lips were warm, soft, and tasted like champagne and the chocolate mousse cake they’d shared for dessert. Fucking delicious. Her tongue slipped around his, and she pressed herself closer.

“Someone pull those two apart,” one of the guys yelled.

Nick grinned even as they continued to kiss. He wasn’t voluntarily giving up Becca’s mouth, that was for goddamned sure.

“All right,” Kat said from the other side of Nick. “We better get the rest of the night underway before we lose the bride and groom.” Laughter all around as everyone got up from the table.

“Do you think they’d notice if we snuck away?” Becca asked, her face absolutely glowing.

Beckett grabbed Nick by the shoulders. “Get up, Rix. The tables are waiting for us.”

“Apparently,” Nick said. “You go have a good time, Sunshine. But you be ready for me later.” He arched a brow.

“Oh, I will,” Becca said, her tongue licking at her bottom lip.

Shit, he had it bad for her. And he fucking loved it. This woman was going to be his wife. How fantastically lucky was he? A man who just months ago would’ve said he didn’t believe in luck, unless it was of the bad kind.

Outside, they found two massive stretch Hummer limousines waiting for them. Beckett had arranged their transportation for the evening through one of the companies he had experience working with—the cars were bulletproof and the drivers were prior military and armed. Nick appreciated the hell out of the gesture.

As the men headed for one vehicle and the women for the other, Nick pulled Becca into his arms. “Have fun, Sunshine. I love you.”

“Love you, too, Nick.” This kiss was softer, sweeter. Which was good, since all their friends started giving them shit.

“Yeah, yeah,” Nick said, flipping the guys the finger.

“Before you go, I have something for you,” he murmured, then slipped a little wrapped box into Becca’s hand. “Wear this and think of me.”

“What is it?” she asked.

“I’m not telling,” he said.

What I thought about Hard Ever After

Laura Kaye does it again with her Hard Ink series with the sweet novella, Hard Ever After.  Not all authors are brave enough to take on a wedding story, so I was eager to see how this wedding novella would turn out.

There are plenty of romantic and sexy moments in this and at one point I was even choked up, Nick and Becca are just so perfect together.  If you are looking for something romantic and heartwarming, this could be for you.  It's a quick read with plenty of emotion.

Of course, it's the men and women of Hard Ink, and along with all the sexy, swoony delicious moments in this one, there's also a bit of drama. Have all the bad guys been vanquished? You'll have to pick up a copy and find out!

Great addition to the series.

From New York Times Bestselling Author, Penelope Ward, comes a new standalone novel.

Sharing a summer house with a hot-as-hell roommate should be a dream come true, right?

Not when it’s Justin…the only person I’d ever loved…who now hates me.

When my grandmother died and left me half of the house on Aquidneck Island, there was a catch: the other half would go to the boy she helped raise.

The same boy who turned into the teenager whose heart I broke years ago.

The same teenager who’s now a man with a hard body and a hardass personality to match.

I hadn’t seen him in years, and now we’re living together because neither one of us is willing to give up the house.

The worst part? He didn’t come alone.

I’d soon realize there’s a thin line between love and hate. I could see through that smug smile. Beneath it all…the boy is still there. So is our connection.

The problem is…now that I can’t have Justin, I’ve never wanted him more.

Author's note – RoomHate is a full-length standalone novel. Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.
